In the history of the ECASHL, nine teams – Buffalo Sabres, Hartford Whalers, Montreal Canadiens,
Washington Capitals, Calgary Flames, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers and
Winnipeg Jets - have made the playoffs each of the five seasons. Five teams have made the post-season
in four of the five years. The Quebec Nordiques and San Jose Sharks have never made the playoffs.

After four previous seasons, the ECASHL has had three different champions, with the Montreal
Canadiens holding the honors as the only champions with multiple titles (S1, S3).

This year, the New Jersey Devils, last season’s champion, are the #3-seeded team in the Eastern
Conference, while the Edmonton Oilers, last season’s runner up, are the #5-seeded team in the Western
Conference. After four seasons, every team to make an appearance in the Cup Finals has returned to the
playoffs the following year. And, this season, every team to make an appearance in the Cup Finals has
returned to the post-season.

So will a new franchise join the three previous champions with a Cup or will someone just add to their
championship total? Stay tuned……
